For Retailers: How to Build a Footwear Selection That Sells

Know your customer before you buy. A store serving students needs a different mix than a store serving office workers. Watch what people already wear in your area, and let that guide how much of each category you stock.

Cover the basics first. In most Egyptian stores, everyday sneakers and comfortable sandals move year-round, dress shoes peak around occasions and the school season, and boots concentrate in the cooler months. A balanced starting selection covers all four before experimenting.

Sizes matter as much as styles. A beautiful style missing the most common sizes is lost revenue. When placing wholesale orders, weight quantities toward the middle of the size curve and adjust after your first few sales cycles.

Build a relationship with your supplier. Reliable communication about restocking, new styles, and delivery timing is worth as much as a small price difference. Ask questions, start with manageable quantities, and grow the order sizes as you learn what your customers pick.
